Le beaujolais nouveau was an absolute brilliant marketing idea, everybody has heard of Beaujolais now, but with awareness came the association to a wine which quality is not highly regarded by wine drinkers. I mean, you’re not drinking Petrus here.
So basically you are a Beaujolais producer, well very few people will put your great Morgon or St Amour on their list, because of the fear their consumer will have in buying an “exepensive” Beaujo.
True. But you know what guys, wine connoisseurs know it, and general public, well they would never have heard about it if not for the beaujolais nouveau.
So the Duboeuf sales of regular Beaujolais or village, believe me, is largely due to the publicity generated.
What wine region does have such a covered and easily marketable program ?
